Yamaha YZF-R3 Recalled in India Due to Defective Fuel Tank Bracket and Power Switch

The part of Japanese two-wheeler, India Yamaha Motor has recalled 1,155 Yamaha YZF-R3.Yamaha Motor Co of Japan have detected a defect in the motorcycle’s fuel tank bracket and main switch sub-assembly. This affects motorcycles manufactured between 2015 and 2016. The affected parts would be replaced free of cost at Yamaha dealerships. In June 2016, Yamaha India had recalled the Yamaha YZF-R3 over faulty clutch pressure plate and oil pump assembly.

The replacement activity would begin immediately in the country & the company would communicate with customers directly.

Yamaha’s fifth recall in India, second for YZF-R3:

The company had recalled in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Yamaha Motors hadcalled around 58,248 units involving the 113cc Ray scooter, 321cc YZF-R3 and 998cc YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M for fixing the problems.

Reason for the recall of Yamaha YZF-R3:

  1. The fuel tank fitting bracket: The fual tank is not be able to sustain the vibrations from the engine. Which resulted in crack in fuel tank and which will result in a fuel leak.
  2. The power switch: It may get corroded due to by water seepage. Which resulted in hard starts and sudden stalling of the engine.
