TVS Phoenix 125 discontinued in the Indian market | Exports though will continue

TVS Motors has stopped selling the Phoenix motorcycle in the Indian market. The TVS Phoenix was introduced in India in 2012 and was the successor of the Victor 125 as a rival to the Honda CB Shine and the Hero Glamour. However, The TVS Phoenix it didn’t do well in the Indian market. After the ban of BS3 as an order of the supreme court, BS-IV norms came into position on April 1, 2017, in India. TVS finally planned to stop selling of the motorcycle for the Indian market. Exports though will continue.

At first targeted selling 20,000 units a month, and they had a tough competition to other company.The company has been struggling to sell over 1,000 units per month in the past 12 months. In the month of March, sale rate dropped to 94 units. After the ban of BS3, TVS Motors has decided not to update the Phoenix for the Indian market.

TVS Phoenix 125 Specifications:

  • 124.8cc single-cylinder air-cooled, carburetor motor.
  • new 11PS of power and 10.80Nm of torque.
  • The engine is mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
  • The claimed fuel efficiency was 67kmpl.
  • Semi-digital instrument cluster.

However, the TVS Phoenix continues the production for export purposes. There is no replacement for the Phoenix in the Indian market just because TVS Motors will be busy in manufacturing TVS Akula as well as the TVS-BMW G310R.
