The Indo-Japanese car maker Maruti Suzuki has begun 2017 with a bang as it finally rolled out its new budget car Maruti Suzuki Ignis in India. Its arrival was first announced in the Auto Expo in 2016. The car is priced at 4.59L(ex-showroom, Delhi). This compact SUV is targetted to attract young buyers due to its trendy looks. This is first of its kind from Maruti, based on modular platform. Thus is considered to be lighter with good torsional strength hence safer as well. The Ignis premium hatchback has its main competitors, Hyundai Grand i10 and Mahindra KUV200. The complete production of Ignis will happen based on Make in India program. Ignis is available in 4 main variants- Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha. The Ignis will be sold through the Nexa range of dealerships. This will be the entry-level car from the Nexa showrooms.
One of the most stylish and sleek interiors for a micro SUV for the price that it comes. It comes with black and ivory accents. The Ignis will be very similar to that of Swift in terms equipment. It has a 5 seater capacity. It will also have a touchscreen system on the top model and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink. The other features include keyless entry, push start and stop, reverse parking camera, navigation. On the whole, the interiors are sporty, with good cabin space and the finish is spot on.
The essential body consists of round roof with straight lines that give it an offbeat structure. The proportionate tires protruding out at the four corners sturdily supports the body and gives the car a muscular look. Striking features such as the front fascia, the shell-like roof, and the impressive slits on the C-pillar emphasizes its exterior. The Maruti Ignis will measure 3,700mm in length, 1,660mm in width, 1,595mm in height, 2435mm in wheelbase and feature 180mm of ground clearance. The car will also get LED daytime running lights.
