All-new Mahindra is working on a slew of sports utility vehicle (SUV) which will likely be launched this year in India. However, the more interesting product which has surfaced as of now is the Mahindra TUV 500(300XL) which has been spotted testing in Surat for the first time last month. The same car has been spotted once again, and this time with more features like long wheelbase SUV which will offer three rows seating have been revealed with road testing commenced, expected launch could be towards the end of 2017.
A Mahindra TUV500 test was spied tested by IAB reader Samarth Modi in Surat. It could land in dealerships this year and appeal to buyers in India and overseas as A true 7-seater that could be marketed as a modern alternative to the Mahindra Bolero. Mahindra TUV500, the engine under the hood is expected to be a dialled-up version of the mHawk 100(diesel engine), which produces 100 Bhp peak power at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1,600 to 2,800 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual or 5 speed auto SHIFT AMT.Given that the TUV500 is not a sub-4m class vehicle, Mahindra could lend it a larger displacement engine.
The spy shot reveals that there will be a more powerful engine under the hood of the TUV 500. It could possibly be a upgrade version of the 100PS/250Nm diesel engine from all-new motors as well. The transmission will be the Ricardo-sourced AMT. Expect Mahindra to offer ABS as well as dual airbags as an option right from the base trim, if not standard. Mahindra once the TUV 300 XL is launched may look at retiring the slow-selling Xylo MPV from the market altogether.
