Kerala RTO officer has denied registration of Jawa 42 with Galactic Green.
Jawa motorcycle offer Jawa 42 in six colors. The first color listed under Jawa 42 is the Galactic Green. India has banned the use of Olive Green ( Army Green ) color for use in civilian vehicles.
An owner of Jawa 42 with green color variant is facing a problem with registration at a local (RTO) Regional Transport Office in Ernakulam, Kerala. The RTO officers stated that the color is in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act and thus Galactic Green color cannot be registered for civilian use.
In a letter dated 16th July 2019, The RTO officer has written a letter to the dealer – M/S Classic Motors, Kalamassery, who delivered the
“On inspection of the vehicle, at the time of permanent registration, the authority realized that the vehicle is with the color of Olive Green, which is against the existing Motor Vehicles Rule.”
“Hence you are directed to attend for a personal hearing before the under signed within 7 days with relevant documents.” added the RTO officer in the letter”.
The dealer shared the letter with the owner, who then contacted Ashish Joshi, CEO of Classic Legends.
As per the photo shared, Mr.joshi saying
“Should not be the case. Bikes are being registered all over the country. Am looking into it and will come back to you soon.”
Next day, Mr. Joshi replied,
“We have met the RTO and are addressing his problem. To be honest, he wanted a bike delivered without waiting for it and we reused. Hence he is trying to create hassle. In the next 2-3 days all documents pertaining to colour will be handed over so that he cannot hassle our customers or us again.”
