Bajaj’s after a partnership with UK’s Triumph Motorcycles Ltd making a lot of news. The JV is to develop new mid-capacity bikes (250 – 650)cc for the domestic and international markets. They are planning on hunting new set of people to attract with the new segment in the market by introducing a new era of the motorcycle. Bajaj, India’s second largest bike maker will manufacture them at Chakan Plant.
In India, Triumph’s 13 dealerships will continue to manage by Triumph itself till they manufacture new bikes with bajaj JV. Bajaj will take over the Triumph business network after the launch of Joint Venture (JV) motorcycles.
According to a report at Livemint, the Bajaj is working on building new product codenamed as ‘Urbanite’. According to the source, this will be a new two-wheeler electric brand. The Product is aimed to make a Tesla of two-wheeler Electric vehicles space. The new franchise will make stylish & aspirational products in the Indian as well as international markets.
Added to that Rajiv Bajaj says that he doesn’t want to be in a volume business. Hero is already in the electric two-wheeler space for the last many years. Bajaj is expecting Electric vehicles will go on sale before 2020.
